King Neptune`s Seafood Restaurant in Gulf Shores

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Initially told we would have a 20 minute wait. When we finally got seated inside, the hostess said she would try and find us a server. She also seated about 3 other tables and a huge party about 5 minutes after us and told them the same thing. We waited 30 minutes, and still no one even acknowledged us. The other 3 tables, who were seated after us got waited on. We tried to pull the hostess over to ask her if we could get waited on, and she completely ignored us. Finally, we got up and told her we were leaving, and THEN she acted like she was going to get us a waiter but we had it and left. This place is extremely overpriced and the service is HORRIBLE. Do not waste your time. If you’re looking for a fairly good priced, awesome service, and amazing food then go to Bahama Bob’s!!!

Quick wait time, got us in, in 15 minutes while they were packed full. Great service and even the ranch is homemade. The waitress was amazing

Waited more than an hour for our food after ordering it. Waitress brought us drinks and 15 minutes later brought us straws. Once we had drinks, we kept getting refills of wrong types, twice the waitress poured water on my child's Sprite. Food is good but cost as much as Peg Legs Pete's yet the portions are small. Ordered fish tacos, paid $22 for 2 tacos,spent $90 dollars on food for 3 adults one child, left hungry, dissatisfied and had to grab some fast food on our way home. Yikes!

Food was very good. Service was good also but had to wait a decent amount of time to get the food. We will be going back soon regardless. Thank you

This hidden gem is a must when visiting Gulf Shores. Unlike many other restaurants there us rarely a long wait and the food is fresh and delicious. Maple was a wonderful and thoughtful server, we throughly enjoyed eating here and will return!

Disappointed!!! Save your time and don’t even go. Was told that their fountain coke was watered down but they had canned coke but they were more expensive. Go figure! After about 20 minutes of going back and forth with the waiter, whom couldn’t understand English, we called for the manager. She came over and explained that the canned cokes didn’t cost more than the fountain drinks and she was gonna send us a different waiter but she never did so we left with no drinks and no food. I am highly disappointed that during a pandemic when we place a To Go order we are hit with a 15% additional charge! This information was not disclosed to us when we placed the order. The restaurant was packed with people on top of one another, but when trying to stay safe ourselves we are penalized. Ridiculous! And when I called to discuss it I was hung up on!! King Neptune’s is off our our list of favorites.

The food had decent flavor. That's the only good thing i can say about it. The waiting area smelled terrible. The only tables available while we were eating were outside and the gnats and flies were very abundant. I was not able to finish my food because I couldnt keep the bugs out and even when the server and wandering manager was told they didnt even offer any kind of compensation for the experience. I do not recommend anyone going to this restaurant, or at least the Gulf Shores location.

The food was great and our server, Maple, was very friendly and accommodating. The grouper was delicious and the key lime pie divine. I was sad they were out of hush puppies but my husband and I will go back again to give them a try.

How can this place have such high ratings?!?This was awful.It's our last night in town, and we love to find "hidden gems" that specialize in seafood.With the high ratings, this seemed like a sure bet.Boy, were we WRONG. We ordered the Neptune plate, mahi mahi and grilled shrimp.The grilled shrimp was mildly edible, because well, it's grilled shrimp. The food had NO flavor, no salt, nothing. It was such a waste of seafood. Frozen, prepared fish from the freezer aisle has more flavor.I never write reviews, but this was just too bad.Even the fries were soggy..and you can almost always count on fries.We were so disappointed.

Our server Maple was excellent! Very attentive. Very friendly. She checked on us frequently even though the restaurant was short-staffed. If you eat here, please ask for Maple. The food was great, too.

My girlfriend ordered Crab Claws and they were entirely over-breaded and they tasted un-fresh. This was a complete waste of our hard earned money. This has truly ruined our experience with the company. I asked the waitress for some condiment packets and it took her 10 minutes which left my food cold. We will never return to this establishment.

We had a wonderful lunch on Sunday. It was our first time visiting the Gulf Shores and the restaurant. Our servers name was Maple and she was friendly and very helpful with the menu and answered all our questions. She was so great and we will be back !

First time eating here again in years... showed up and they told us it was an hour wait on food...two hours later everything arrived in to go boxes. We ordered the $12 crab cakes and $40 dollar seafood platter and received only two crab cakes... and for the platter we received shrimp, reds and a BABY crab leg... never received the oysters the waitress “forgot” to tell us that they ran out earlier that day. We asked if she could take off the price of the oysters since that’s the only reason we ordered that meal and instead she took off $4 and gave us 4 more shrimp All in all won’t ever be returning A waste of $70

Maple was amazing! She was super sweet and on top of everything we needed! We had a large party and she did a great job with everything!! Loved her!! The food was awesome, everything was cooked great. Overall great time! Thank you Maple for taking vare of us!

I absolutely love King Neptune’s! We come here multiple times during our stay each year! The food is always fantastic and the service is great! The fried cheesecake is delicious, I def recommend trying it! Maple was our waitress two days in a row and she has been great! No complaints!

Went Sunday before Memorial Day early dinner, seated right away. Waitress and staff friendly. Then it went bad when the table next to us ask where their food was to be brought out. We waited 65 minutes with 4 people. Waitress said 3 times you food will be out in a minute. Never came. Once it did come, average quality. Bill was $125. You got me once.

Food was okay, good priced lunch specials although fries were cold & over salted.

Great seafood! Prices like they are waterside, but still good if you want some good seafood. Grilled oysters were superb.

Maple was absolutely wonderful, she done an outstanding Job and I plan on coming back and would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great food with a great personality! 23year anniversary and they brought a free dessert.

A place where Gordon Ramsey would spit his food out in disgust. He like myself would probably have a few choice words for the horrific food that was served. $35 for crab legs that were clearly not fresh and had no flavor at all. The shrimp was breaded and tasted like water, no flavor at all. Our appetizers came out after our food was served. The calamari was also bland and honestly the calamari and shrimp tasted the same. The salad was only lettuce, one tomato, and two cucumbers. They didn’t even have croutons on my salad and they served them in a plate after the salad was served.The only highlight of the meal was the nice waitress we had. I feel like this place should be on kitchen nightmares and I will not be returning until changes are made. I do not recommend spending money on overpriced food that tastes bland and like water. Save your time and money people and may Gordon Ramsey help us all.

Food was yummy. Snuck in a $9.90 to go charge. $70 for a dozen oysters Rockefeller onion rings, fried mushrooms ,a kids chicken strip dinner and small stuffed crab shell... to go. No drinks

Cozy place with amazing food! Had a bit of a wait due to it being busy but it was worth it. Ordered the Fish & Shrimp Platter which is a bit pricy, but very filling.

Amanda, server, was great (thank you Amanda). This place is really good. I had the 1/2 pound of Royal Red Shrimp. Cooked fresh. All The ladies were great to talk with. Very friendly, speedy service. Highly recommended you stop by and see Amanda and the rest of the service crew.

Don't let the exterior scare you away from Gulf Shore's best seafood restaurant! While it may look rough on the exterior, the food is outstanding. From their fried calamari and fried pickle appetizers to their Baked Kings Seafood Casserole, Shrimp Alfredo, Seafood Platter and Queen's burger, they cook amazing flavors! And it was paired with outstanding service! Don't miss out! They are best known for anything shrimp!

King Neptune tonight. Food was good. Prices were 2 to 3 dollars Higher than online menu. Which were already higher then other places. And for a place without much in the way of dine-in accomodations they charged us a 15% extra charge for takeout. Probably not worth the extra money. Docs seafood shack and shrimp basket have got them beat on price and taste so far. Neptune's gumbo was unique and I did like it.

I don't mind playing for ridiculously overpriced seafood, but I'd at least expect the staff to be somewhat pleasant. The hostess clearly did NOT want to be there. The hostess provides the first impression of a restaurant. We decided to leave, as you can get better hospitality at the Dollar General. The restaurant probably doesn't mind, as they don't look for repeat business, as the area is mainly tourists.

Went there for lunch and the place was busy but there was a couple seats open so we didn't have to wait. We ordered the mushrooms for an appetizer. It was a little pricey considering the appetizer cost more than our lunches but both hubby and I agreed it was worth the price. Our lunches were good.. we would definitely go there again for lunch. I've read other reviews about the dinner prices and I agree it's costly but if you go during lunch it's half the price and you can try out the food!

POOR WAITSTAFF TRAINING ! Been coming here for over 25 years . Walked in placed our order immediately and our appetizers quickly came out and then ......we waited and waited and finally our server told us he had never put our full order in ... we were the second table there at 11:10 AM . 12:19 we finally got our crab claws and he told us again he still had not put our order in ! Very nice young man , his second day and he was very confused ... poor training . Kitchen was also short handed and I’m not being ugly but no excuse . The manager came out and checked on every table and walked around my table .Never in my 25 years have I been here and it was so unorganized .

I absolutely Love King Neptune's!! I was there this week with my mom and I am missing the daily lunch specials but I still loved the food and I'm so happy to be able to sit indoors or outdoors now as well! I have been going there for years and always enjoyed it so very much! We were waited on by the most sweet and amazing waitress named Maple!! She got our food out quickly and she was super friendly and talkative with us! THANK YOU Miss Maple! We will be back to see you again soon! Best spot in town!

King Neptune’s is a small, hole in the wall that has AMAZING food. (Dress VERY casual) Out of our whole trip we thought this was the best we had. Upon arrival, we were seated outside. Immediately after, a table opened up. I asked if we could sit inside. They said fine. We proceeded to wait an hour before a waiter acknowledged us. Finally, she said “I’m so sorry. I didn’t know he wasn’t serving y’all.”Other than that everything was great! I got the steamed shrimp. Came with potatoes and corn. I’d recommend getting the full pound rather than the half pound. Husband got fried fish, fries, hush puppies. He agreed it was the best meal we ate during our whole trip. The restaurant was practicing social distancing and all workers wore masks.Overall, I’d give five stars for the food. 2 for the waiters. The food was worth the wait/miscommunication/lack of service.

Be careful with takeout orders. There is an automatic 15 percent surcharge. If you get takeout it would be wise to check everything before you leave. Food was average at best.

Fish chewy, scallops little rubbery, fries tasted like yesterday's leftovers. Only thing good was raw and fried oysters. Too pricey.

It's a great place to go if your party of 7 has alot of money and just as much time. Wanna tell how long it takes to get served from the time you order? Easy, multiply the amount it will cost by 2.... 25.00 Shrimp... Takes 50 minutes to fry, it's that easy!!! Good food though, I recommend getting your mother in law a slice of fried cheesecake!!! That should shave years off her life if she makes it through the night!!!

The food was delicious! We started with the raw oysters. They could have been a little more careful cleaning them to avoid shell pieces inside the oyster. We had the fried calamari which was good, but a bit overpriced. I had the Zydeco Penne which was amazing! It was spicy, a little salty, but so tasty!! The menu mentioned it was the most flavorful dish...that is TRUE! My husband had the catfish, but wished he would have picked my dish. I gave him my leftovers! We (family of 4) left with a pretty large bill, I would definitely return! I might skip the appetizers next time just to cut back on the price.

Great service. It was fast and had literally no issues. The waiter was fantastic and joked with us when we joked with him. Didn't know too much about mixed drinks but thats mainly because he was only 20. This place is pretty much the best restaurant I have been in in a long while.

Tiny portions of Captain D’s quality food at premium prices (think $25-30 average entree price). Plenty of choices in Gulf Shores for much better food and reasonable prices. Try Doc’s, Sea N Suds, Fish River Grill, or DeSoto’s. Don’t waste your money at King Neptune. You’ll still be hungry when you leave.

Jeff was our server, GREAT guy....unfortunately, the rest not so much....food was good....i worked as a chef for 30 years ( i won't critic the food)...i was looking at the employees ( all wearing masks) and i started noticing how the busboy cleaned the tables after a customer left.#1: remove food from table with paper towel#2: clean table with wet rag#3: sweep the flooreven in a NON pandemic time, it is unacceptable to clean that way...get your detergent and sanitizer !!!you want to get cheap? remove a few shrimp from an order...but at least clean your place!!!PS: if you want to try the beignets...good luck....we had to live because it was taking so long.FYI i tipped Jeff 50% of the bill...because HE was really a great server.

Worst meal and service I have had in years. Dined at King Neptune the other week and it was the worst dining experience I can remember.. Had to wait for 10 minutes to get seated when there were plenty of seats and no one ahead of us. Then we waited 20 minutes and finally had to flag a waitress to get a menu. After a 40 minute wait we received our meal, which was relatively expensive. The food was horrible. My fries were clearly cooked the day before, dry and cold. I had to get condiments from another table and we were never offered a refill on drinks. I had the Maihi Sandwich which was dry and chewy. Of course we had to wait another 15 minutes to get the check and then another 10 minutes to get it back so we could get out of there. Total waste of time and money. BTW, they were not that crowded.

The server Jeffrey not very attentive I guess cause we weren't the party of 16 he was waiting on. I ordered a side salad well they brought me a salad in a bowl we've never been there didnt know what one was to look like I asked him repeatedly after he brought the bill why i was charger 7.99 for a 2.99 side salad he mumbled something twice and never offered to fix the problem then I noticed the table nest to us when we were leaving I guess ordered a side salad it was no less salad just on a smaller plate. From a different server. I would give less than 1 star if it was offered!!My daughter also ordered an appetizer of coconut shrimp and she was charged for a full plate 23$. Instead of the 15$ or so that it was. You really need to teach your people you may get more return customers and they might actually make good tips. Nah I doubt it.

My husband and I visited this restaurant for the first time on our anniversary. We were NOT disappointed! The food was absolutely delicious! Our server, Maple, was so wonderful! Great personality and very good at her job! Also spoke with the manager, Corrina, who was also very pleasant to talk to. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone!

HORRIBLE!!! Do NOT go here. If I could rate it a 0 I absolutely would. We arrive a little after 6pm and sit down without menus. We have to ask someone to hand us a menu. Order our drinks and food. Appetizer takes 45 min to come out and is served on a small plate with the food falling off of it. We notice that the restaurant is busy so we wait patiently and don’t say anything. After an hour and 15 min we ask our waitress, Erica how much longer. Then the manager comes to our table and apologizes because our ticket “gets lost” in the back. We immediately get up and leave and still end up having to pay for the horrible appetizer and drinks we waited forever for. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

I have enjoyed lunch at King Neptune’s for many years! With the new owners things changed but OK but this week was bad! Always loved there chicken liver but this week dry and over cooked! The beans and squash were tasteless with no seasoning! I can open a can at home! The biscuit was a hard hockey puck! They better get a decent cook back or they will be out of business soon ! Higher prices and poor food! I was very disappointed! Diane and Al would never have served this!
